Couchville Pike Community Public Input Meeting 4/25

Councilman Russ Bradford (District 13) will be holding a Community Public Input Meeting this Saturday, April 25 11:30am - 1:30pm at the Southeast Community Center, 5260 Hickory Hollow Parkway, Antioch, CA 37013.

Couchville Pike To Be Development - Make Your Voice Heard!

Bradford has been working with Metro’s Planning Department to come up with a few ideas for layouts and the look of a new rural community. Saturday’s meeting will be the first chance for residents to see three plans and share their thoughts or even provide alternative concepts.

He explained “The goal of this is to take what is currently a very rural area and turn it into a rural community with public parks, bikeways, greenways and additional infrastructure, and potentially a small area of commercial retail to provide some place for our folks to go.”

Three design patterns to choose from

The three potential growth pattern designs are:

  • A lower-density community that stays mostly rural
  • A medium-density community that’s mostly rural, but includes some low- to medium-density development.
  • A higher-density community that has higher-density development closer to main roadways, but lessens the farther you go.

The higher-density plans will include single-family duplexes with fewer than 100 units on one parcel.

“I’m kind of thinking the community is probably going to, if anything, lean towards more of that middle ground,” Bradford said.

With all three plans, there are certain areas the Metro Planning Department has suggested putting in higher density. An interactive portion will be included in the meeting, according to Bradford, where residents will be given a map and a sticky note as an opportunity to map out the future of the neighborhood.

Will Change Happen Around You, Or Will You Say How We Change?

It's not if the area will change, it's how. Without having a shared vision on how that change will happen, what happens is haphazard development that does not benefit our neighborhoods - no sense of direction, random pieces of development that do not fit together. We need YOU, the people who actually live, work and play in these neighborhoods to show up and make your voice heard as to how you want your community to look.

Pop In For the Pop Up Event Following the Meeting

Come join us for the meeting, and then come to our pop up event in the parking lot immediately following. We'd love to meet you and hear from you about this topic, as well as what is important to you.
